Mourning Olympus by ~Sporenza:iconSporenza:

Tauta heh deiva hubris esesthai ton telon ton panton.

O Mother,
O Gentle Nuturer,
I fear I may have to die tonight...

Embrace me when these rocks
Of Earth are conquered by both
Rushing water and flame. Cover my eyes.
I wish not to hear.

O Artemis...please, be kind to us.

This air is brisk and sweet.
          Infuse my breath.
Dance in my lungs and soul.

Boulomai apotkeinein
For that which was once strong is weak,
And that which was once weak now
Laughs,
As a lunatic.

O Athene...forgive us, please.

This land is a sprawling desert of scarred and
Scorced steel,
The sand is nought but ash.

Skulls with sheilds brandish steel,
War cries in the night. From your terrible voice
Lashes out flame.

O Cassandra...you and your lies.

Where was our warning?
If indeed we were to suffer such a weight,
We should have been given the chance to fight.
From Divine Salamis the war cries come,
Water red with the blood of hubris.

The Fates, ah you cruel creatures, why break
Your promise now?

Oh Aphrodite, give us comfort.
Let heaven come before it gives way to hell.

Author's Comments

I wrote these when I was feeling rather glum...and just after doing some work on Ancient Greece, so the entire poem is riddled with the Divine Goddesses, and Cassandra.

Poor Cassandra. She was doomed to forever tell the truth and future and to never be believed.

I really love the flow of this. Everything about it is perfect I think. :+fav:

You asked what was wrong and I smiled and said nothing.
Then I turned around and whispered everything.
